Artist Portfolio — Sharon Frost

Sharon Frost is a multidisciplinary artist based in the Southern Downs, Queensland. As a past longstanding member and volunteer with the Boonah Arts Society, she has served as the Gallery Coordinator 2019-2022, and exhibits regularly throughout the Scenic Rim, Southern Downs, Granit Belt, and Ipswich regions.

Coming from a lineage of professional artists, Frost first established her creative career as a multi- awardwinning sugar and cake artist. Her practice has since evolved into mixedmedia visual art, working across watercolour, pastel, ink, and acrylic. Her work is deeply informed by her lived experiences across Australia, including time spent working on Country in the Central Desert of the Northern Territory, the Grampians in Victoria, the Scenic Rim, and now the Southern Downs Region. A significant thread in Frost’s practice is her engagement with art therapy, modalities, mindfulness, and mental health focused creative processes. She specialises in the daily practice of Mindfulness Ink, producing freeflowing, naturalistic works that explore and reframe the relationship between art, mental health, and disability. Her pieces often carry an emotional honesty that reflects both resilience and introspection.

Studio Practice

Frost has developed a blended studio environment that supports her multifaceted approach to
art and the natural world. Her primary workspace is a private studio housed within a purpose
built shed, nestled at the end of her garden. This intimate space serves as a place to work,
write, meditate, and create art that responds directly to her lived experiences and the
surrounding landscape.

Frost also works within a dedicated ceramics studio, creating alongside other artists in a
shared environment. This collective atmosphere offers inspiration and creative energy while
allowing each artist to pursue their own individual practice. She plans future joint
installations or exhibitions emerging from this shared space.

Studio Evolvement

Frost recognises that as her artistic style continues to evolve, so too must the spaces that
support it. She views her studio environment as an extension of her creative identity—fluid,
adaptable, and responsive to new experiences, materials, and processes. As she grows as a
professional artist, her conventional indoor studio will shift and transform to suit her practice,
reflecting the ongoing changes in her methods, interests, and artistic direction. This
evolutionary approach ensures that her studio remains a living, dynamic space.

Emerging Directions

In recent years, Frost has expanded her practice into mosaics, ceramics and sculpture, stepping beyond familiar mediums. This emerging body of work pushes her artistic boundaries, encompassing reclaimed, and recycled materials creating art with an environmental consciousness. This signals an exciting new direction in her creative journey;
where art and life meet.

Frosts practice is grounded in authenticity, curiosity, and creative wellbeing, connecting
community with her creative space where she now runs small art/mosaic workshops, meeting with like-minded people.

These accessible art workshops are designed to bring developing artists together, providing a fun, supportive environment for participants to explore their creativity, while building social skills and making meaningful relationships.
